Cowgirl Baby Shower

A friend of mine is having a baby girl next month!  Yeah for new babies:)
Her family is very "into" the cowboy life, and so we decided to throw a fun lil' cowgirl baby shower!
Take a look!
Invite was created with PSE.  I love the pink & black color combo!
This fun chalkboard was actually created from MY old baby crib....more to come:)
It served a great purpose outside the building, because we had a lot of people coming from out-of-town, & the sign and balloons attracted their attention.
Simple decorations to bring in the "cowgirl" theme.  I found this great pink paisley fabric on sale for $2/yard.....so I bought the rest of the bolt!  LOL!
Needless to say, I had enough for two tablecloths, a couple of kerchiefs, and the fun banner.
We've all made the darling pennant banners from paper or fabric, right?
But to give this one more of a "country" feel, I tied the paisley fabric with pieces of black bandanas.
I love how it turned out!
I added a couple of little touches like the black lanterns, cowboy hats, boots,
& the stick pony around the gift area....
 And, of course, the FOOD!
I love showers because of all the "girl" food!
You know what I mean, right?
The fresh fruit, the crisp veggies, the infamous chicken salad sandwiches, & the CHOCOLATE!
I got this fabulous caramel corn recipe recommended by my lovely sis.
It was a big hit!  Plus the cute pink, paper cones added a punch of color:)
And what shower is complete without cake pops???
Hmmmm...maybe not necessary?!
Okay, well, I just like any excuse for fudgey cake on a stick:)
My divine hubby made this PERFECT cake pop stand for me.  Isn't he the greatest!?!
I love the width in the middle, where I can change out the ribbon to match the occasion.  Genius!
Don't worry, I paid him in cake pops to say thank you:)
The much-anticipated lil' cowgirl is going to be named Jacqueline Jean...
thus the double J on some of the cake pops.

The baby shower was a great success.
Holly got so many nice gifts; everything is cute for those baby girls, huh?
We had one lady attend who honestly gave over 8 outfits, 2 toys, burp cloths, blankets, etc....
she simply said, "I couldn't decide! So I bought it all!"  Hahaha!
My favorite new gift, that I hadn't thought of before, was the baby plastic hangers!!!
Such a great idea.  And only $1.  I'm definitely adding that to every baby gift from now on.

And now I can't wait to meet this future rodeo queen:)

Peanut Butter Frosting

3 sticks unsalted butter, softened
1 cup creamy peanut butter
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
2 pounds confectioners’ sugar, sifted
6-8 tablespoons heavy cream (if using milk, amount will be less)

Directions
1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment, or with a hand mixer in a large bowl, cream butter and peanut butter on medium speed until fluffy. Turn your mixer down to low speed and slowly add in the confectioner’s sugar, and continue mixing until well blended.
2. Add vanilla and 4 tablespoons of heavy cream. Blend on low speed until moistened. Add an additional 1 to 4 tablespoons of heavy cream until you reach the desired consistency. Beat at high speed until frosting is smooth and fluffy
3. Pipe frosting onto cooled cupcakes and finish with drizzling ganache.   (recipe from My Baking Addiction)
