Digital Scrapbooking

In another life (2-3 years ago), I LOVED keeping up my family blog.
It made me happy to record our memories and to see my 'littles' growing up.

But then 'life happened' and I got too busy.
Or so I thought!

This past July I stumbled upon this fantastic, memory-preserving idea....Project Life!
All of a sudden I felt that EXCITEMENT come back!
Seriously.  I called my mom, sister, SILs to ask/tell about Project Life.
I bought my first kits that day and have loved using them ever since!

Here are my very first layouts using Project Life layouts and products....

I am SO happy I was able to capture the spontaneity & fun of this road trip with my sister and our SEVEN kids!!

Since then, I have loved using Becky Higgins' tools to preserve these memories:

Halloween is 'spooky' close!
So I am sharing a quick-sew costume
to make the upcoming holiday more of a 'treat' than a 'trick'.
This idea came to me when I saw that The Ribbon Retreat now carries craft felt!
And it comes in SO many dreamy colors....

For this poodle skirt I used: 1 yard of craft felt in aqua, 1 yard of craft felt in black,
2"-wide elastic for the waistband, and a basic black Color Wave Ribbon Mix.

Print off the 'poodle pattern' below or use one of your own.

PLEASE NOTE: the craft felt is sold in a 12" width.
I would assume this width to be suitable up to a size 4T.

Next, I made a Spike Bow using this great TRR tutorial!
The instructions are SO simple to follow.

Finally, to complete the costume, I used a 'fairytale tutu' sold through The Ribbon Retreat.
That extra 'fluff' really adds to the fun of the Sock Hop Skirt!

Ribbon Ankle-Wrap Shoes

Hello Ribbon Retreat friends!
As much as I LOVE wearing my cute boots in the Fall & Winter,
I equally LOVE donning the sassy shoes of Spring & Summer!

I am going to demonstrate how to use ribbon to update your shoes for the upcoming seasons.

This is a great accessorizing idea that you'll want to wear for
Mother's Day Brunch, June Weddings, or 4th of July Picnics!

The felt circle should be secure at the top & bottom, with sides open.

There are many ways to tie your ribbon wraps!

I adore the front-bow used in this Moonstitch Grosgrain Ribbon.
Up your elegance by adding a Satin back-bow for formal dances, black-tie events,
or even your wedding day!
I also tried the Satin bow placed on the side (over ankles) and loved it.

Perhaps you don't want to "commit" to hot gluing the felt circle inside your shoe?
No biggie!
You can 'fake' the look by tying ribbon under your foot!

My daughter went crazy over this darling chevron printed ribbon....
Little girls love this 'ballerina-inspired' look!
Or skip tying it under-the-foot and simply tie around your ankle.
I truly LOVE this double-bow look!
Especially in polka dots...

Have fun adding your own ankle-wrap ribbons!
A great accessory for any age!

Really you cannot go wrong when pairing two of women's favorite things:

The Ribbon Retreat has the perfect ribbon to compliment ALL of the shoes in your closet ;)
